EAACA LCA Tool for Wall Constructions

Understand. Compare. Improve.
The environmental performance of wall constructions is becoming a key topic in European building regulation, sustainable construction and investment decisions. But Life Cycle Assessment can quickly become complex: different national datasets, different construction practices, different assumptions and different scenarios often lead to results that are difficult to compare.

The EAACA LCA Tool for Wall Constructions makes this discussion more transparent.
It gives users a practical way to calculate, understand and compare the environmental profile of different wall build-ups — from individual material layers to complete wall systems. The tool is flexible, transparent and designed to support fact-based discussions on embodied carbon, circularity and sustainable construction choices.

What makes the tool useful?
With the EAACA LCA Tool, users can create and compare wall constructions in a structured way. Material data can be adapted, extended and saved in freely configurable databases. This allows users to work with regional values, national datasets, specific products or their own assumptions.
The tool also includes a realistic recarbonation approach for autoclaved aerated concrete. This makes it possible to consider the carbon uptake of AAC during and after the use phase in a more transparent and product-specific way.
Instead of looking only at isolated material values, the tool helps users see the full picture: how each layer contributes, how different life-cycle modules influence the result and how alternative wall solutions compare.

Key features

  • freely adaptable material databases
  • flexible creation of wall constructions
  • direct comparison of different wall build-ups
  • transparent display of life-cycle modules
  • consideration of AAC recarbonation
  • assessment of individual layers and complete wall systems
  • import and export of databases and backups
  • practical support for discussions on embodied carbon and circularity

A practical starting point for better decisions
The first version of the EAACA LCA Tool is intended as a transparent and practical starting point. It does not replace verified Environmental Product Declarations according to EN 15804 or project-specific building LCAs according to EN 15978. Results depend on the selected datasets, user inputs and scenario assumptions.
But this is precisely where the tool adds value: it makes assumptions visible, allows comparisons and helps users understand what really drives the environmental performance of wall constructions.

Start exploring
Open the tool, load the database, adapt the values and compare your own wall constructions.
Discover how material choices, construction details and recarbonation influence the environmental profile of wall systems.
