Health & Safety
Autoclaved aerated concrete is one of the safest building materials, both in terms of health and ecological impact, available to consumers.
AAC is manufactured from freely available natural raw materials (lime, sand or other minerals, cement and water) and therefore does not contain any toxic substances such as chemicals or volatile compounds that could harm residents. The manufacturing process emits no pollutants and creates no by-products or toxic waste products.
These beneficial characteristics have been acknowledged by environmental labels such as natureplus or BREEAM.
Its non-organic composition reduces the risk of developing allergies and prevents mold, rodents or other pests from affecting the building.
In addition, buildings constructed from AAC offer excellent thermal and noise insulation as well as high resistance to rain penetration, that all contribute to a healthy living environment.
In the event of a fire, AAC does not give off any smoke or toxic gases, which can endanger human life even more than fire itself. The material is not combustible and heat resistant, therefore offering added protection to building users.
