How can we make the environmental performance of wall constructions more transparent, comparable and easier to discuss?
EAACA has released its new LCA Tool for wall constructions. The tool supports a practical comparison of different wall build-ups and helps users understand how material choices, wall layers and life-cycle modules influence the environmental profile of a construction.
What the tool can do:
- calculate LCA results for wall constructions in a structured way
- compare different construction variants directly
- work with freely adaptable material databases
- allow full flexibility for regional datasets, national values and specific wall build-ups
- make the influence of individual layers visible while keeping the complete wall system in focus
- implement a real recarbonation approach for AAC instead of relying only on simplified assumptions
- support transparent discussions on embodied carbon, circularity and construction choices
The first version is not meant to replace detailed national assessments. It is a practical starting point: transparent, adjustable and open for further development.
This is especially important because LCA values and construction practices still differ significantly between countries. Regional datasets will therefore be an important next step.
With this tool, EAACA wants to contribute to a more fact-based discussion on sustainable, affordable and technically robust wall constructions.

Note on using the material database:
To use the material database, please first download the database file to your local computer. After opening the LCA Tool, import the downloaded database file into the program using the import function.
