Potsdam, May 2026 – The 70th Executive Committee Meeting of the European Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Association (EAACA) took place in Potsdam and focused on the strategic priorities for the European AAC industry in the coming years.

The discussions addressed key challenges and opportunities for the sector, including stricter EU sustainability requirements, mandatory whole-life carbon reporting, the revised Construction Products Regulation, digital product information, circular economy, recarbonation, and the role of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete in climate-neutral construction.

A central part of the meeting was the further development of EAACA’s technical and political work. This includes the update of the EAACA Net-Zero Roadmap, the new report on AAC recarbonation, the upcoming technical brochure on AAC property values, and EAACA’s continued engagement in European standardisation and policy discussions.

The EAACA LCA Tool was also presented and discussed as a web-based application for calculating the CO₂ footprint of AAC wall constructions. The tool will soon be available free of charge for everyone on www.eaaca.org. Visitors are encouraged to check the EAACA website regularly for updates.

The meeting underlined that AAC is well positioned for the next phase of sustainable construction: as a mineral, durable, energy-efficient and recyclable building material with proven performance and a clear contribution to whole-life carbon assessment.

Another important topic was the preparation of the 8th International Conference on Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (ICAAC), which will take place in Istanbul in 2027. The conference will provide an important international platform for science, industry and innovation in the field of Autoclaved Aerated Concrete.

The meeting in Potsdam was also marked by a change in EAACA’s leadership. Following the elections, the new board is:

Piotr Dauksza – Vice President
Robert Turski – Secretary General

In his laudatio, Torsten Schoch warmly thanked Robert Turski for his six years of dedicated service as President of EAACA and for his strong personal commitment to the European AAC industry. Under his presidency, EAACA strengthened its voice in Brussels and advanced key topics such as sustainability, circular economy, whole-life carbon and the recognition of AAC recarbonation.
