43th China Aerated Concrete Conference

During October 6th to 8th, 20024, China Aerated Concrete Association (CACA) organized 43th China Aerated Concrete Conference in the old heritage city Xi’an with the focus of low-carbon, intelligentization and internationalization.

The president of the European Autoclaved Aerated Concrete Association (EAACA), Robert Turski, had a pleasure to present the Net-zero Roadmap of the European AAC industry and participate in the panel discussion about global AAC industry development trends.

The key points of the presentation were:

  • Goals and ambitions of EAACA: to reduce the carbon footprint of European construction industry
  • The EAACA members developed common Net- zero roadmap for the European AAC industry and committed reduction of the CO2 footprint
  • EAACA recommends a method of life cycle assessment (LCA) based on EN 15978 standard, when assessing the environmental footprint of buildings
  • Circularity of AAC: for AAC production, up to 20% of primary raw materials can be replaced with recycled waste-AAC from building demolition
  • Recarbonation – a great characteristic of AAC: CO2 absorption of AAC during its use phase
  • AAC one of the most widely used wall building materials in Europe in all market segments

Special thanks to Mr. Stephen Shen, the president of the China Aerated Concrete Association (CACA) for the invitation and hospitality during the conference.
